A project of ACES’s Urban Affairs & New Nontraditional Programs, this remarkable online resource provides abundant links to garden guidance and community-transformation-by-garden. From the site: People have known for thousands of years that plants and gardening are physically, mentally, and socially good for people. Only recently has man been able to prove it through scientific studies that allowed us to gain greater insight as to how trees and plants do more than just help us survive. Not only do they harvest sunlight and provide food, clothes, homes, and medicine, they also improve our mental and physical health, and make our communities safe. Help spread the word and spread the green! ACES has also produced a 110-page manual for faith gardens with background on ecumenical (biblical) gardens as well as “gardens of the East”—Islamic, labyrinth, Taoist, Zen, Buddhist, Shinto, and tea gardens. The manual has ideas for garden projects and fundraising, edible harvests; and an index of plants (by sun needs).
