Representatives from more than 55 faith-based congregations gathered in March for Interfaith Sustainable Food Collaborative’s 6th annual conference. Attendees included grassroots project leaders engaged with local farms, food production, youth, and policy work to advance sustainable food systems and food justice.
Plainsong Farm and Christian Food Movement’s Nurya Love Parish was among the plenary speakers.
The opening plenary speakers shared how their sacred texts address sustainability, care for creation, and justice through the lenses of food, agriculture, and seasonality. Participants also learned about how religious values inspired innovative farms that feed their communities while also facilitating religious practice and community building. The closing plenary featured. Andrew Kang Bartlett, Rev. Dr. Ambrose Carroll, and Susan Stephenson, each working at the national level to help faith communities influence the sustainable food movement.
